Invalidated

I haven’t been the best blogger. I was injured earlier this spring while in rehearsal for the Seattle production of “Marie” (Formerly,"Little Dancer”). We were doing final run-throughs here in NYC, the week before tech in Seattle, when I ruptured my plantaris tendon.

Theatrical Alchemy

Back in January 1999, in the basement of Lincoln Center Theater, I took part in a workshop of a new dance play called "contact" by Susan Stroman and John Weidman that within in the year would be elongated with a second workshop, open Off-Broadway at the Mitzi Newhouse, garner raves reviews and the New York Times anointing it a "new musical", extend into the new year and then, re-open upstairs in the Broadway sized Vivian Beaumont Theater. Difficult People

Earlier this month I shot an episode of the Hulu original series, Difficult People, a half-hour comedy from executive producer Amy Poehler. They put me up in a huge trailer on Third Avenue a block away from my teen’s school - which still didn't impress her! Loved hanging with Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner (both of Funny or Die and Fuse TV’s Billy on the Street).

In Your Arms

We opened the workshop production, and world premiere, of In Your Arms this weekend at Vassar College. The Powerhouse Season runs through Sunday July 13th. I am featured in two of these love stories: The Lover's Jacket, by Nilo Cruz, begins in Spain at the end of civil war when flamenco and modern art are banned and ends 5 years later in Argentina, with some steamy tango.

Here are two great reviews to celebrate the final week of The Shapes She Makes. "One of the best theater pieces I've ever seen....I've never seen a story communicated so profoundly as I have in this show" - WGBH Jarod Bowen And "The Shape She Makes is an intelligent, deeply felt hybrid of theater and dance, relying on both forms to the benefit of both…" - Kilian Melloy from The Edge Boston
