The Shapes She Makes opened on April 9th at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA. What a extraordinary journey over eight years this has been. I am into the third week of rehearsal here in Cambridge at the American Repertory Theater for The Shapes She Makes. It is so great being back here after an intense workshop last summer. The play is tough, emotionally.
Fourteen years ago I was part of a workshop of a new dance musical that was put together in the rehearsal room of Lincoln Center Theater. The experience was magical and the show, Contact, went on to open later the same year to rave reviews, a Broadway transfer and 4 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Today, another musical that started with a workshop in that same rehearsal room at LCT, Little Dancer, has just been announced for a late 2014 premiere at The Kennedy Center.

I'm having a blast at Connecticut Rep where Terry Mann is mounting a funny, romping production of Pirates of Penzance. Terry and Vincent Cardinal, the Artistic Director, have assembled a game group young men and women to play pirates/policemen and the daughters of the Major general. It is a blessing to spend time with these young pros.
Last week I signed on to play the Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance. July 12th - 22nd at Connecticut Repertory, directed by Terry Mann. This is a terrific opportunity.
I have spent the last week in a room full of wonderful actors and creatives on a reading of Ever After, a musical based on the film of the same name. This is not my first reading of this piece - in fact it's my fourth, in as many years. It's a great show with a gorgeous score by Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler and as of today it is now scheduled to head to Broadway in the 2013 season.
Happy belated New Year! Not much to report. I just signed a confidentiality agreement for a week long reading I am doing in February.
